(I tried to find a clever title, and this is what my brain came up with. Sigh.)
As you may know, I first published The One Who Could Not Fly, the first book in the Wing Cycle trilogy at the end of March of last year. It astonishes me to think that only a year or so has passed since that day, and that I have not only completed the trilogy, but am now writing the follow on series. Conversely, it feels like ages ago that I actually published that book and somehow, surely, a lifetime has passed. While I would like to muse on the strangeness of time and perception, I think I should save that digression for another day. My point in mentioning all of this was to say that I have begun the production on the audiobook for The One Who Could Not Fly!
I first began production about two months ago, with the same company that I used for Speaker of Words. I really like working with them, but I think there was some glitch in the system, because after the initial project was started, everything just stopped. I tried changing things, or updating information to see if there was a problem on my end: crickets. So, I uploaded TOWCNF onto ACX (Amazon’s audiobook production system) and opened up auditions.
As of today, I have officially hired a narrator!
Now, I don’t know precisely how long it will take to get this audiobook done. I am giving a very broad timeline to my narrator, because I would like to release the audiobook either directly before Fire Burning Bright, the first book in the series following The Wing Cycle, or directly afterwards. And I don’t plan on releasing Fire Burning Bright until November, so I can at least have books one and two written and the third in progress.
Yes, yes, the release date is a ways off. I know, and I’m sorry, but I’m just so excited! I really love working on new projects and doing my best to make old projects better, and I just can’t help announcing it to the world. Also, I announce it because I am currently pinned down by cats and therefore can’t do a happy dance.
Ah, the wonders of being a cat acolyte.
Anyways, I’m really thrilled to be able to announce the audiobook is officially in progress! I shall keep you apprised of all news, and I promise, when I get the chance, I will do the appropriate happy dance. Just…beware of waking sleeping cats. For they are pointy at five of their six ends and very, very good at gravity mode.
