If you’ve been following any of the newsletters/slightly rambling posts on my various social media pages, then you probably know I have been working on finishing up The Forsaking of the Blind, the third book in The Wing Cycle. At this point, I have about a week’s worth of work left to do on this book and then I’ll send it off to my editor and sort out the cover design.
My goodness, that means I’m almost done with this trilogy.
Part of me is thrilled to have this series be complete, so that I can move on to other projects that have nothing to do with TWC (On Behalf of Death, a comedic fantasy series) and further series in the same universe. It’s exciting; I get to explore so many new stories and share them with the world. And then there’s part of me that is just a little sad.
I’ve grown to love these characters. They are such a pleasure to write. Their words and actions flow smoothly, they know precisely what they’re doing and why, and I don’t hav eto wonder about their development as I’m writing–it’s already been sorted out. I love playing with this plot and tugging at all the various threads. There’s so much of me in this story, and I’m going to miss these characters.
Now, that being said, I’m still excited to get the final book in The Wing Cycle out to you so you can finally figure out what’s going to happen (I mean…I’m not sorry for keeping you in suspense. Not even a little.) and finally see the resolution that I’ve been planning for so long. Or, well, thinking about if not actually planning (plantser that I am, the details are always a mystery).
Anyways, another week of edits and filling in missing scenes on my part, and then I’m done. I’ll send it off to my editor and start working on cover design and more promotional materials. If all goes to plan, I should be able to announce the publication date soon! My newsletter is the best place to go for details on all of that, if you’re interested. Otherwise, onwards! I have a few more days of character torture and I really must sharpen my blades. 🙂
