Not quite a vacation

Not quite a vacation

For the last two weeks, I have been working almost solely on getting my backlog set up for the new year. I have several exciting plans that will be starting up in January and a whole lot of other interesting things on the plate. This means that I have to be very proactive about creating a backlog so that I can keep up with all of the to-do lists. Normally, this is not a problem for me. I’m often ahead of schedule and I try to be pretty good about to-do lists and making sure that things get done.

However, I have been working on the backlog for January almost non-stop for the last two weeks. My writing has suffered (though part of that was because I had a cold and couldn’t do dictation) and I have been getting a little fritzted in the brain. So this week, now that my backlog is set up for the first two weeks of January, I’m taking things a little bit easier.

I don’t have to worry about my videos. I have books ready for review. I have my other new projects pretty much all ready. There are still things that must be done (like setting up a website) and I will probably be doing those over Christmas (to keep my stress levels down for the holidays, I have saved some work. Yes, it’s backwards, but it works). But this week, I’m less worried about things.

That means that I am going to do two things primarily this week. I will be focusing mostly on my actual writing (books!) and on reading books, both for review and because I can (books!). I’m going to take things a little easier. It will be like a vacation. But… not quite. And you know what, I’m glad that I’m doing this. Sometimes you just need to rest your brain.
